West India Travel Guide

Goa Tourism
Variously known as "Rome of the East", "Tourist Paradise" and "Pearl of the Orient", the state of Goa is located on the western coast of India in the coastal belt known as Konkan. The magnificent scenic beauty and the architectural splendours of its temples, churches and old houses have made Goa a firm favourite with travellers around the world.

Mumbai Tourism
Following the first war of Independence in 1857, the East India Company was accused of mismanagement, and Bombay reverted to the British crown. With the outbreak of the American Civil War in 1861, and the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869, exports, specially cotton, from Bombay became a major part of the colonial economy.

Aurangabad Tourism
A city known for its medieval monuments and rich cultural heritage. Aurangabad, the city named after the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, is more than just simply a place to stay while visiting famous cave temples of Ajanta and Ellora. Under Aurangzeb, Aurangabad became the seat of the powerful Mughal Empire for a short while. His predecessors preferred Agra, Delhi or Lahore - all in the north, and Aurangzeb's move was not unopposed. But the autocratic Emperor's will prevailed.

Mahabaleshwar Tourism
This popular hill resort, in the state of Maharashtra, was once the summer capital of the Bombay Presidency, during the days of the British. Situated at an altitude of 1372 metres, Mahabaleshwar has splendid panoramic views of the scenic valley, and of the sea, which is quite visible on clear days.

Ajanta Allora Tourism
Ajanta Caves, Way back in1819, a party of British army officers on a tiger hunt in the forest of western Deccan, suddenly spotted their prey, on the far side of a loop in the Waghora river. High up on the horseshoe- shaped cliff, the hunting party saw the tiger, silhouetted against the carved façade of a cave.
